micro.breaks is a Chrome extension that reminds you to move. This page says exactly what it collects, why, and what it never touches.
micro.breaks is made by Tangi Gouez, who is responsible for the data described here. Contact: tangigouez.pro@gmail.com.
What is collected
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address, which you type on the welcome screen | To recognise your installation, and to contact you about your feedback on micro.breaks. It is not used for anything else: no newsletter, no advertising. |
| A random installation ID, created when you install | To count installations without knowing who you are |
| Eight events inside micro.breaks: installed, setup step done, setup completed, mission started, mission completed, skip challenge shown, skip challenge passed, timer setting changed | To learn whether micro.breaks works and to improve it |
| With those events: the mission's name and length, your timer settings (interval, hours, days, lunch, whether a calendar is connected), and the extension's version | To understand the events above |
You agree to this when you click "Let's start" on the welcome screen. Nothing is sent before that.
What is never collected
- The sites you visit, your tabs, your browsing history, or anything you type outside micro.breaks.
- Your calendar. If you connect Google Calendar, your busy times are read on your computer and stay there.
- Whether you are at your keyboard. micro.breaks uses this to run its timers, on your computer only.
Where it goes
The email, the installation ID and the events are sent to PostHog, an analytics service, and stored on its servers in the European Union. PostHog processes them on behalf of micro.breaks and does not use them for its own purposes. They are not sold, and not shared with anyone else.
What stays on your computer
Your settings, the state of your battery, and a log of your breaks are stored in your browser. They are deleted when you remove the extension.
Google Calendar
Connecting Google Calendar is optional. micro.breaks asks for one read-only permission, to see when you are free or busy. It does not read event titles, guests, locations or descriptions. Your busy times are used only to hold prompts during your meetings; they are stored in your browser for a few hours and are never sent to micro.breaks, to PostHog or to anyone else.
micro.breaks' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The use of information received from Google APIs also adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
YouTube
Two missions play a video from YouTube inside micro.breaks. YouTube then receives what it receives for any embedded video, such as your IP address. micro.breaks uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com). See Google's privacy policy.
How long it is kept
Events and your email are kept for as long as micro.breaks is being developed, and deleted on request.
Your choices
- Stop everything: remove the extension. Nothing more is sent, and what is stored in your browser is deleted.
- Not be contacted: reply to any message asking for that, or write to the address above. You will not be written to again.
- See or delete your data: write to the address above with the email you gave. Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy, a correction or deletion, and you can complain to your data protection authority.
- Disconnect Google Calendar: click Disconnect in micro.breaks, or remove the access at myaccount.google.com/connections.
Changes
If what micro.breaks collects changes, this page is updated first and the extension asks for your agreement again.
